Training Days

Approximately every second month, the club hosts training days for members and other interested riders. Training days are held at Equestrian Park, Cotter Road, Yarralumla.

Although the format varies slightly each time, a standard training day would usually see two show jumping courses and a cross rails ring built and made available to riders. The heights and related distances of each course are adjusted, as appropriate, to meet the needs of the riders and their mounts. Riders are then able to school their horses over the fences, with advice available upon request from other club members. The club owns a large range of professional show jumping equipment and the training days provide an ideal opportunity to school horses over the types of visually 'spooky' fences they are likely to encounter in a competitive situation.

Training days are invariably informal, with an atmosphere of friendly camaraderie fostered amongst the riders. A non-judgemental attitude prevails and riders are encouraged to participate at the height and speed with which they feel comfortable.

Participation on training days costs:

Members

$12 per horse/rider combination to a maximum of $36 per family or per rider with more than one horse.

Non-Members

$22.00 per horse/rider combination to a maximum of $66.00 for multiple horses, plus one payment of a $10.00 insurance levy. Non-members will also be required to sign a release and waiver.

There is a $2.00 per horse levy which is paid to the ACT Equestrian Federation and is used for maintenance and improvement of Equestrian Park.
